● Made for the whole NZ job hunt

Job applications and interview practice, grounded in your real experience.

Rolebird helps you tailor an honest application, see what you match and what you don’t, then practise answering realistic interview questions built from your CV and the role. Every factual claim is checked against your own documents, and nothing is ever submitted for you.

Tell Rolebird about yourself once. After that it’s one click on the Seek, Trade Me Jobs, SJS or Jobspace listing you’re already reading - grounded in your own documents, built for the NZ market.

Pay per application - and per interview - never per month. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. See how the evidence is checked.

Applying for jobs across the Tasman? Seek capture works on every Seek country site, so an Australian listing captures exactly like an Auckland one.

I’m preparing applications

Capture the listing in one click, get a cover letter grounded in your own documents and a CV change list, and see the ATS screening - what you match and what you don’t - before you send anything.

I’ve got an interview

Practice interviews built from your CV against that job: follow-ups that react to what you say, the questions you’d rather not be asked, and an honest debrief - typed, or out loud.

We minimise what identifies you

Before you upload, you strip your name, contact details and address out of your CV and cover letter. We scan the files and refuse them while contact details, an address or an ID number are still in there. Softer things - what looks like your name, a social handle, a referee’s details - we flag and offer to redact, and you decide. Some things we can’t spot at all, like employer names and exact dates. Rolebird does not need to know who you are to tell you how to sell your experience. How that check works, and what it misses.

We still hold your email address for your account, and your CV still describes your work history - so it is still personal information under the Privacy Act. We encrypt it, you can export or delete all of it at any time, and inactive accounts are deleted after 12 months (with emailed warnings first). There is no password to steal, either: we sign you in with an emailed link, so we hold no credentials at all. How we handle your data.

How application preparation works

  1. Buy a run, or a pack of them. Nothing renews; capturing jobs is free.
  2. Upload your CV and a base cover letter, with your personal details removed.
  3. Search the job boards normally, using their own filters.
  4. Click Add to Interest on any listing you like. The extension captures it - or add any job by hand if it’s on a board we don’t cover, or you’re on your phone.
  5. Open the job and click Generate to spend a run: a cover letter and CV change list come back. Edit them, regenerate with an instruction, or download them.
  6. Attach the documents on the job site, apply there, and mark the job Applied.

See if it’ll pass the filter - before you send it

Many employers screen applications with software before a person ever reads them. Every job you save gets an ATS check: three plain signals - how much of the listing’s wording your CV covers, whether your experience genuinely matches, and whether your CV is formatted cleanly enough to parse - so you can close the gaps before an employer’s system finds them. Rolebird shows you that screening view before you send, rather than after a rejection.

And a record of what actually happened

Jobs move through Interests → Applied → Interview → Offer, and each one keeps a dated timeline you write yourself - who you spoke to, what was offered, why it fell through. Six weeks in, that is the difference between a job you never went for and one that turned you down. Nothing moves on its own, because nothing is ever submitted for you.

When the application works: practise the interview

An application gets you the conversation; the conversation is where the job is won or lost. Rolebird builds practice interviews from your CV against that job - the same two documents your application came from - so you defend your real experience under pressure before the pressure is real.

Your CV, not a question bank

Questions are planned from your CV and the job ad - including the ones you’d rather not be asked - and the follow-ups react to what you actually say, the way an interviewer does. No two sessions run the same script, because no two answers are the same.

Out loud, privately

Type your answers, or speak them: the interviewer talks, and your speech is transcribed on your own device - the audio never leaves it. (Voice needs a one-time model download, at least ~500 MB, in your browser - which model, and a browser check.)

An honest debrief, no scores

After each session: what held up, and what to work on, in plain words. The next session is planned knowing what the earlier ones showed - and when you say you’re ready, one final mock, taken once, like the interview it rehearses.

One pack covers one job: 15 practice sessions plus the final mock - $49.99 one-off, less if one of the first-100 founding slots is still open. The live counter is on the pricing page, and here is exactly what a pack includes. Nothing renews, and there is no fixed expiry while your account stays active.

The letter is one step. Rolebird is built for the whole hunt.

One-click capture, a claim-by-claim check against your own documents, de-identification on your own device, a record of everything you sent and where it stands, and interview practice built from the same documents when you get the call. That’s what Rolebird is - built for the parts of a job hunt where honesty and preparation matter most.

The problem is not that people aren’t applying

Our research found two things that sound contradictory and are not. Applications per advertised position are up 261% since 2022, with heavily contested roles drawing 150–300 applicants and some over 800. At the same time, 41% of employers say the hardest part of hiring is finding quality candidates - in the biggest application piles ever recorded.

What the numbers say

Applications per advertised position up 261% since 2022. Contested roles drawing 150–300 applicants, some over 800. And 41% of employers naming quality candidates - not quantity - as the hardest part of hiring, in the biggest application piles ever recorded. Every figure is sourced in the research report.

So Rolebird is built to send fewer, better

Saving new jobs has a daily cap on purpose, every application costs a run, and nothing is ever submitted for you. The intent is that each application you send is one you read, checked, and stand behind - prepared properly for the role, not one of hundreds sent hoping.

What Rolebird will not do

It won’t make unchecked claims

Every claim is checked against your own documents before you see it - covered requirements carry the quote that proves them, and unsupported claims are removed or the generation fails. Here is how that is enforced.

It won’t rewrite your CV

You get a clear change list. The document stays yours - you decide what to apply.

It won’t apply for you

No auto-apply, no spam. You attach the files and click apply yourself, every time.

It won’t coach you to bluff

Interview practice challenges the thinnest parts of your evidence - including the gaps - and helps you explain them honestly rather than disguise them. If an answer would surprise your referees, it has no business in the interview.
