Why Rolebird
There are plenty of ways to write a job application. This page makes no claims about any of them. It states what Rolebird does, plainly, so you can judge the choices for yourself - every one of them is a statement about Rolebird that we can keep true.
What Rolebird does
It reads the listing where it lives
The extension’s button is on the listing itself - Seek, Trade Me Jobs, Jobspace and Student Job Search. One click, and the whole ad comes with it. You can also paste a listing in yourself. Your CV is stored once, not re-entered for every job.
Your own letter sets the voice
Upload a base cover letter and every tailored letter works from your own words and phrasing. It is optional: without one, the letter is written from your CV alone, and the writer is told not to invent a voice for you.
A change list you approve, not a rewritten CV
Rolebird suggests CV changes as a list, each quoting the line of your CV it applies to. You decide what to accept. Your document stays yours.
The screening tells you what you don’t match
The ATS screening maps the listing’s requirements to verbatim evidence in your CV - and lists the requirements it could not find evidence for, before you send. How we test that it stays honest.
Every claim is checked before you see it
Generated letters go through a verifier that checks each factual claim against your own documents. Unsupported claims are removed, and if an honest version cannot be produced, the generation fails rather than ships.
De-identification before upload, storage in New Zealand
You strip your name and contact details on your own device, and a check runs before anything is sent - some findings it refuses outright, others it can only warn you about, and its stated limits are published. Storage is onshore and encrypted, and what you upload is never used to train anyone’s models. That is de-identification, not anonymity - a work history can still point to a person, which is why we treat it as personal information regardless. Priced like a job hunt, not a gym
Job hunting ends. So you buy runs, not a membership: when you land the role there is nothing to cancel, nothing keeps charging, and whatever you didn’t use is still there next time you need it. Sign in at least once a year and it stays - an account left untouched for 12 months is deleted, after two warning emails.
