Prices in NZD - the amount shown is the total you pay. Two things are for sale, matching the two halves of a job hunt: job runs for the applications, and an interview pack for when one works. Neither is a subscription - nothing renews, and there is nothing to remember to cancel.

Application preparation

What a job run is

A job run produces the complete output: a cover letter in your own voice, a prioritised list of CV changes with the reasoning for each, an ATS screening naming what you match and what you don’t, and candid positioning advice for that role. It costs one job run credit. A revision is separate - it updates an application you’ve already generated with your feedback folded in, and produces that same complete output again. Every pack bundles in a handful of free revisions - not part of your job run credits, and not tied to any one job - so spend them on whichever applications need another pass.

Capturing jobs is free and always has been; what costs money is generating the application. So you can build your shortlist first and spend runs only on the jobs you’re serious about.

The comparison worth making is not against a cheaper subscription - it is against the forty minutes you were going to spend, or the generic letter you were going to send instead.

Why it isn’t cheaper

Your letter is written by a high-capability model rather than the cheapest one that produces fluent text, and that difference is most of what you are paying for. The cheap option is not merely worse prose - it is likelier to invent experience you don’t have, which is the one failure that can cost you a job offer after you have accepted it.

Every generation is also checked before you see it by a second, separate model call. A claim your own documents don’t support is dropped, or the letter is rewritten until it holds - and if it still doesn’t, the generation fails rather than reaching you, and the credit goes back. That check is a model reading a model, so it is not infallible; what we can promise is which way it errs. Separately, before any change to how Rolebird writes goes live, it is graded by a second, independent model against nine criteria with hard floors on invention. The method is published, including how the ATS screening in particular is tested.

Before you buy: get your CV ready

You strip your CV and base cover letter of personal details before uploading - name, contact details, address, referee names, ID numbers, and links to personal profiles - and generalise your employers (“Xero, 2019–2022” becomes “a NZ fintech, 2019–2022”). We check every upload, but the check is not the same thing everywhere: contact details, ID and bank numbers, an address or a profile link block the upload; a likely name, referees or a driver licence are flagged for you to fix or accept. Employer names and dates aren’t detected at all, which is why the generalising above is yours to do. See the full list.

Runs wait on your account, so buying before you’ve done that costs you nothing but a few minutes of order - unlike a trial clock, which is one reason we stopped selling one.

Refunds and leftovers

Unused runs sit on your account until you use them - buying a pack you don’t get around to using isn’t on its own a refund. If a generation fails on our side you get the credit back automatically, so a failed run never costs you one. And if we didn’t deliver what we promised, get in touch - we’ll look into it and put it right, refund included where the fault is ours.
